10 FAVORITE PICTURE BOOKS FOR SAINT PATRICK’S DAY
We love celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day and there are many ways we do this in our family. One of the best parts about this great Feast and Saint’s Day is reading wonderful picture books about him.
Here’s a list of our Top 10 Favorite St. Paddy’s Day Picture Books:
1 – Saint Patrick’s Day in the Morning by Eve Bunting
Quite possibly our most favorite Eve Bunting book of all time, not to mention for St. Paddy’s Day 🙂
2 – Patrick Patron Saint of Ireland by Tomie de Paola
Classic Tomie de Paola illustrations and text shares the story of this Saint’s life as well as some beloved legends attributed to him.
3 – Jamie O’Rourke and the Pooka by Tomie de Paola
This one is not really a book about St. Patrick, but hilarious nonetheless and is always on our list for a good Irish picture book.
4 – The Leprechaun’s Gold by Pamela Duncan Edwards
Hilarious and fun, another delightful story for all ages.
5 – Fiona’s Luck by Teresa Bateman
A very sweet story of a greedy Leprechaun king and a clever girl.
6 – St. Patrick’s Day by Gail Gibbons
A secular version of the life of Saint Patrick in the classic Gail Gibbon’s style.
7 – A Fine St. Patrick’s Day by Susan Wojciechowski
New to us this year and a treat! Love the illustrations by Tom Curry.
8 – Jamie O’Rourke and the Big Potato by Tomie de Paola
This one is another hilarious tale by Tomie de Paola that just can’t be missed this time of year – although a great read and laugh anytime!
9 – Tim O’Toole and the Wee Folk by Gerald McDermott
A classic Irish tale of poverty and possibly fortune depending upon the Wee Folk.
10 – The Saint Patrick’s Day Shillelagh by Janet Nolan
A heart-warming tale of Ireland, a branch from a blackthorn tree, a shillelagh and the legend behind it.
