Menu Planning With Pinterest | In the Crockpot
It’s been a while since I shared a Menu Planning with Pinterest post, and Fall is a great time to take charge of your meal planning strategies and get yourself in gear with some great meals during the back-to-school season and keep you in a menu planning groove instead of a slump. It’s really best to have a plan, otherwise you end up with the inevitable “what’s for dinner” syndrome that so easily plagues us all at the 5 O’Clock hour.
Do you love your Crockpot?
I have come to really love my crockpot for various reasons. I can load it up, set it and forget it. The house smells great all day and I completely eliminate the horror-at-dinner-hour situation “What’s for Dinner Mom?” from clamoring hungry kids. 😉
I have recently found some great websites that I am sharing today that have made me love my crockpot even more.
- New Leaf Wellness (which I’ve been raving about on Facebook and Pinterest).
- The Adventure Bite
- Hello Natural
All three of the sites have great ideas for healthy, natural, real food that my family loves. They offer budget-friendly options and everything on their menues are easily attainable at my local markets. The best part is they are all easy freezer meals that I prepare ahead of time, freeze and serve any day of the week or weekend with no worries of whether it’s going to taste good or be pleasing to my family. WIN-WIN!!
Menu Plans Made Easy
What I love most about the New Leaf Wellness concept is that all her meals are prepared and frozen before cooking. That means that I can prepare a fresh meal, seal it in a freezer bag or container, thaw in my fridge the night before, and then cook in my crockpot all day. Voila, dinner is served with a minimum of hassle or thought. It’s genius.
In addition, I don’t have to fire up my oven to pre-cook freezer meals once a month. Instead, every few weeks I grocery shop specifically with my freezer meals in mind, prepare 6 – 10 meals in about 2 hours or less and then freeze. That’s it, I’m done and I have at least 2 – 3 weeks worth of meals that I can pull out of my freezer on any given day that I need a quick pre-planned meal. What’s not to love??
The Adventure Bite is fairly new to me, but I have enjoyed some of their recipes in the past with great satisfaction. I like the variety they share in their slow-cooker recipes as well as the healthy aspect they include into meal preparation. The Poached Egg Avacado Toast is one of my favorites 🙂
Hello Natural has many good things to share that is healthy and natural, hence the name of the site 😉 There are many other goodies on this site that have nothing to do with menu planning, but I like it for the healthy and thoughtful recipes they share. Worth a stop in for sure.
Meals Already in My Freezer from 31 Crockpot Freezer Meals:
I know it’s mostly chicken recipes, but I decided to go ahead with serveral of them because we buy organic chicken breasts from Costco, so I had them already, it was a no-brainer. I also am using frozen italian meatballs from Costco for the Sweet and Sour dish, very simple and almost no prep.
Meal Prep Line-Up
- Crockpot Chicken Tortilla Soup
- Beef and Barley Stew
- Crockpot Chicken Caesar Sandwiches
- Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps
- Asian Pulled Pork Lettuce Cups
- Slow Cooker Moroccan Chicken Thighs
- Slow Cooker Beer Chicken Taco Salad
- Cranberry Pork Roast
I hope to pull these freezer meals together within the next week. Not sure if I’ll save it for the weekend or use one of my lighter days during the week to shop and prep.
Preparation is the key to a successful meal plan session as well, so you can pretty much assemble everything one right after another if you have your ingredients ready to go ahead of time.
